What is Red Nose Day?

We’re glad you asked! Nose Day is an adventure with the emission to end child poverty by funding programs that keep children safe, healthy, and educated. Through the strength of entertainment, we bring people together to laugh and have fun, all while raising life-changing cash for the children that need it the most. Since our debut in 2015, we have raised over $230 million and have positively impacted over 25 million children in America, and around the world. This year, Nose Day was held on May 19, 2023.

What is Red Nose Day and when is it held?

Red Nose Day is an adventure to end child penury, one nose at a time. Through the strength of relaxation, Red Nose Day raises money and acquaintance to help keep children in need safe, healthy, and educated in denominations across America and around the world.

Red Nose Day takes place every year in May when millions of Americans, celebrities, and businesses will come together to fundraise, donate, and tune in for a special night of programming on NBC. In its first five years,  Nose Day has raised $200 million and positively impacted the lives of nearly 25 million children.

How did Nose Day begin?

Comic Relief, the beneficence behind Nose Day 2023, appeared by Richard Curtis (award-winning writer and director of films like Love Actually and Four Weddings and a Funeral) as a way to harness the strength of diversion to drive positive change. The first Red Nose Day took place in the UK in 1988, and since then it has proposed over $1 billion globally. Red Nose Day came to the US in 2015 dedicated to finishing child impoverishment. Money raised supports programs in America and around the world that ensure children in need are safe, healthy, and educated.

Why didn’t Walgreens sell Red Noses this year?

In light of the COVID-19 global health crisis, and in an effort to help the public adhere to current health regulations to avoid face-touching, Walgreens will not be selling Red Roses in stores this year. We made this decision out of an abundance of concern for the safety and well-being of the people and communities we serve.

We encouraged customers to make a donation online to help keep children safe, healthy and educated because now more than ever, we need to support children as they face challenges amid school closures, interruptions in family income, and much more.

How does the Red Nose fund work?

The Red Nose Day 2023 Fund provides grants to organizations for programs in America and around the world that ensure children who are living in poverty are safe, healthy, and educated. Red Nose Day’s 2023 recipient Partners include Amref Health Africa; Boys & Girls Clubs of America; charity: water; Children’s Health Fund; City Year; Covenant House; Educare; Feeding America; The Global Fund; Laureus Sport for Good; International Rescue Committee; Save the Children; and UnidosUS.

How does Red Nose influence children in my people?

The charities that receive funding from Red Nose reach communities across America. As more money is raised, the reach across partners expands for an even greater impact. For many of us, these impacts can be seen today within our own communities.
