Christmas celebrates January 7 in Russia, and “Babuska” presents gifts here. Babuska refers to an older woman or grandmother in Russia. Based on a biblical story, this female character did not give a gift to baby Jesus. So out of remorse, he keeps giving gifts to the children.

Every year in the Netherlands, children leave their shoes by the fireplace on Happy Christmas Eve, December 5, hoping that Sinterclass (St. Claus or St. Nicholas) will come and fill them with tablets and gifts.
