When is Canada Day 2024?

We are going to celebrate Canada Day 2024 on July 1. This holiday commemorates the day in 1867 when the British North America Act was enacted, creating a federation of provinces and territories to become Canada.

History of Canada Day

Happy Canada Day, everyone! Today, we celebrate our beautiful country and all that it stands for. But how did Canada’s day come to be? Let’s take a look. Canada Day’s roots are traced back to 1867, when the British North America Act was passed. This Act created the Dominion of Canada, which consisted of four provinces: Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia. Each province had its legislature and was essentially autonomous.

However, as Canada began to grow and expand, there was a feeling among many that the country needed a stronger central government. In 1982, this idea was finally realized with the passage of the Constitution Act, which patriated the Canadian Constitution from Great Britain and officially proclaimed Canada as a federal state.
