Happy Victory Day 2023 Bangladesh 16 December
It was against this background that Sheikh Mujib declared independence on March 26, 1971. The brave Bengalis stood up against the Pakistani violent forces.
At the time of partition in 1947, East Bengal was annexed to a violent state called Pakistan. Eighty-five percent of Pakistan’s population lived in East Bengal. But the key to governance was in West Pakistan. Gradually the nature of the rule and exploitation of the ruling class of West Pakistan became clear to the people of Bengal.
This freedom gained by shedding many tears is very glorious. By celebrating this day every year, we repeatedly remind the new generation and the world about our liberation war and freedom fighters.
The victory of the war of liberation was achieved to establish a democratic society free from exploitation. The national unity that was formed during the War of Liberation ended in division and conflict. Victory Day still inspires us to overcome this situation.
Many steps are taken every year to celebrate Happy Victory Day in Bangladesh. On this day, the whole country is covered in red and green. Red-green flags are everywhere. The festive mood is observed in every city. In the streets of the capital Dhaka, various cultural groups organized many people-oriented events.
Although Victory Day is a day of great joy for us, it is associated with the memory of the great martyrs of 1971, the cries of losing relatives, and the sighs of war-wounded and homeless people. On this day, every Bengali is newly committed to building the country – to stand at the forefront of the World Assembly.
